What are my qualifications as your gift-giving guide? I am a massive fantasy book nerd and I either own these things myself, or I desperately want them, which stands to reason that the fantasy book nerd in your life will want them too!
So without further ado, here is my master list of the best gifts for fantasy book lovers:

Amazon Gift Ideas for All Book Lovers
If you’re not sure exactly what kind of fantasy books your friend or family member is into, you can grab them something from this list and they are practically guaranteed to appreciate it! This list has items in every price range, covering you from stocking stuffers to “main event” gifts!
Kindle
Kindles are the best. I’ve had a Paperwhite for years and I still use it all the time! Even if your reader loves physical books, trust me when I say they will appreciate the Kindle too. (Quite often, I will buy both the ebook and a physical copy, if its a book I really love!)
Whether its for taking their entire library with them when they travel or easy nighttime reading, the Kindle has serious advantages that are too good for any reader to ignore.
Also, Kindle just released brand new versions of their Kindles this year, including a waterproof version of the paperwhite! It also comes in a couple different colors, which is always fun.
Kindle Accessories
If you know the reader in your life already has a Kindle, there are still lots of accessories you can buy to help them improve their e-reading experience, such as:
Kindle covers (I have this one)
Decorative stickers
Kindle holder with page-turning remote (trust me, they’ll love this.)
Comfy Bookish T-Shirt
If the person you’re shopping for is an introverted homebody (as many bookish types tend to be) then they will love getting some comfy bookish t-shirts and hoodies to kick about the house in.
I get lots of compliments on this just one more chapter t-shirt. It’s super soft and comfortable, and it comes in a variety of colours.
Book Light
There’s nothing worse than trying to read at night when you don’t have sufficient light. A good book light takes care of that problem. The best book lights clip onto the book, have multiple light settings, and an adjustable neck.
The one pictured is the Gritin 19 LED book light. It’s the one I’ve been using for the past year and I love it. You can charge it with a USB cable and the charge lasts for-ev-er! It has three light tone settings and you can also adjust the brightness. It’s perfect for reading in bed without disturbing your partner.
It also comes in fun colors if you want something a little brighter than the plain black.
Annotation Supplies
If your reader likes to collect physical books, chances are they like to annotate them. And they can never have too many of them! I typically like to do a different colour scheme for every book I read, so they will appreciate being gifted some pretty new colored tabs.
If your reader is the type who treats their books like glass, never cracking the spine (like moi) then make sure you also get them some clear sticky notes, highlighters, and fine-tipped sharpies. The clear stickies allow your reader to highlight, underline, and write marginalia without permanently marking up the pages.
Fine-tipped sharpies are a must as they adhere well to the clear stickies and dry quickly without bleeding through to the page. I also use colored sharpies for highlighting text.
Here where you can find my go-to supplies:
- Clear sticky notes
- Colored Sharpies for highlighting
- Fine-tipped Sharpies for marginalia
- Colored sticky tabs
Bookmarks
It seems basic and you would think that book nerds would own a wealth of bookmarks, and yet we readers never seem to have enough. They get lost or permanently lodged and forgotten in a book in DNF’d six months ago and as a result we are continuously using stupid things like receipts and paperclips to mark our spot instead.
So do them a solid and grab a collection for them for stocking stuffers!
Here are a few fun picks I found:
Bookshelf Decor
If their bookcase is their pride and joy, you might consider getting them some awesome bookshelf decor to help elevate it. Although decor is always a matter of personal taste, when it comes to fantasy readers there are some things you can get that they are very likely to like.
For example, bookends are stylish and practical. These Mistborn ones I have in the above picture aren’t for sale anymore, but I found these cool dragon-themed ones on Amazon that look pretty sharp.
You also can’t go wrong with fantasy-themed art prints or cute bookish signage they can frame or put on the wall next to their bookcase.
If your reader also enjoys doing crafts, you could get them a book nook. These require some assembly but once completed, they light up and create a cozy little scene wedged on the shelf between books.
Cozy Reading Gear
Reading isn’t just a hobby, it’s a vibe. Specifically, a cozy, relaxing vibe. Gift them something that makes them more comfy-cozy while they read and they will love you forever.
Specifically, things like:
Sherpa-lined Reading socks that keep their tootsies warm while they’re curled up reading.
Bookish Scented Candles that at an atmospheric mood to reading sessions.
A Warm Throw to elevate the style and comfort of their reading nook.
A Couch Arm Table that holds their reading tablet, drink, and snacks.
Special Edition Books
You can find a surprising number of special edition fantasy books on Amazon! However, purchasing a special edition book that your fantasy reader will love is dependent on how well you know their tastes. Remember there are many subgenres of Fantasy. Find out which your fantasy reader prefers and purchase accordingly!
The above photo shows a couple of special editions I go from Amazon. I am a sucker for sprayed edges and chances are the book lover you’re shopping for does too!
For instance, some newer releases include:
Romantasy Readers:
The Stars are Dying by Chloe C. Peneranda
The Haif King by Melissa Landers
Heavenbreaker by Sara Wolf
Dark Fantasy
The Poppy War Collector’s Edition by R.F. Kuang
A Study in Drowning Collector’s Delux Limited Edition by Ava Reid
Blood Over Bright Haven by M.L. Wong
Epic Fantasy
The Assassin’s Apprentice Illustrated Hardcover Edition by Robin Hobb
Historical Fantasy

Book Subscription Boxes
I can almost guarantee that the fantasy reader in your life would be overjoyed to get a book box subscription as a gift. It’s a sure way to keep them in new reading material that looks great on their shelves.
The most popular book subscription boxes are:
There are others, but these are the ones that focus specifically on fantasy books with sprayed edges and gorgeous unique dust jackets.
Be forewarned, most of the time there is a waiting list to become a subscriber, and the wait lists can be anywhere from a few weeks to months. So some long-term planning might be needed to make this gift a reality.
That said, as of the time of this writing, Owlcrate’s YA subscription is currently open! I was an Owlcrate subscriber myself for several months, if you want to learn be sure to check out my full Owlcrate review.
If you can’t get a subscription, you can also check their shop for special edition books and swag they might have for sale!
Gifts for Cosmere Lovers
If your person loves fantasy, there is more than a slight chance that they are obsessed with Brandon Sanderson and his books that take place in the Cosmere. If you know for a fact that your person is one such fan, you literally have an entire store of gift ideas to choose from.
Jsut go to dragonsteelbooks.com and you’ll find everything from art prints and character pins to signed leatherbound books and cosmere-themed apparel. I have the Mistborn trilogy in leatherbound and they are so beautiful and high quality!
If you’re seeing this between October 29th and November 15th, you’ll benefit from Dragonsteel’s “Light Day” sale where they are offering deals on new merchandise in lieu of Black Friday.
Final Thoughts
Honestly, bookworms are pretty much the easiest people to shop for, especially the fantasy nerds. But these are some of the best gifts that they are sure to enjoy this holiday season! Whether you gift more books they can add to their home library or elevate their reading game with an e-reader, there’s a perfect gift for every budget.
